

As a result of this he can somewhat relate to Ryu's circumstances as a member of the Brood whose power can easily destroy the world. Rei struggles with his heritage as a Woren and is more than aware of his destructive tendencies whenever transforming into his Weretiger form, which is something he prefers to keep hidden unless necessary. Nevertheless, he does like getting some credit when credit it due, but he won't force it like Teepo.ĭespite his criminal ways in his youth, Rei is deep down not malicious and only did it as a matter of survival for himself and the kids he came to care for, and in fact renounced his petty crimes altogether when learning the value of honest work. Unlike Teepo, he feels no need to brag or boast about any accomplishments, such as killing the Nue, and will even scold Teepo for such actions. When he lost to Ryu at Ogre Road, he was amazed at how powerful Ryu had become, and was relieved to know that Ryu had survived that fateful night. He is very protective of his friends, especially Ryu and Teepo, and often assumes the role of "big brother", becoming vengeful and severely devastated when he believed Ryu and Teepo to have been possibly killed. He'd rather not hurt anyone, however, but will attack if he feels his friends or himself are threatened. As a thief Rei is very calm, however from time to time is also capable of showing a very impulsive side of himself. Rei is a self-described "kid at heart" who "doesn't know when to give up". This changes somewhat in Breath of Fire IV, where he has more yellowish skin. In the game he is seen to have tanned more human skin than his official yellow coloured fur. His has long hair which is the same shade of yellow as his skin, set loose and messy, and he wears bandages around his hands, and feet.
